The case involving Champa Biswas, the wife of an IAS officer, is a documented and prominent case from Bihar. Champa Biswas alleged that she was repeatedly raped by Mrityunjay Kumar alias Babloo Yadav between September 1995 and November 1997 (a period of over two years). Mrityunjay Kumar Yadav is the son of Hemlata Yadav, a former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA. Champa Biswas alleged that Hemlata Yadav facilitated and abetted the rape by locking her in a room with her son and later threatening her and her family.
Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, social media pages aligned against the RJD have brought out this fact. SS Rajamouli-directed Vikramarkudu, starring Ravi Teja in the lead, had a similar episode. Writer Vijayendra Prasad was apparently moved by this real-life incident in writing the episode.
