Why are star heroes disinterested in love stories? Find out

There comes a stage every decade when there is a shift in the choices made by leading heroes. In Telugu, star heroes started rejecting melodramas in the 1990s. In the 2000s, they started showing little interest in family dramas. These days, star heroes are rejecting love stories.

Director Gautham Menon, who never shies away from speaking his mind and revealing the industry's secrets, said in his latest interview that Kollywood heroes don't want to do love stories. He attributed the reason to some of the recent blockbusters.

"Leading actors are eagerly anticipating action-packed films with a potential for a nationwide release. In the current era dominated by films like 'Jawan,' 'Vikram,' and 'Jailer,' the trend is shifting away from love stories," he said in the interview.

Menon's words are believable. Films like 'KGF' and 'Pushpa' have made Tamil heroes (as well as Telugu heroes) seek action films. Suriya doing 'Kanguva' is a case in point. Dhanush is doing 'Captain Miller'. Directors such as Lokesh Kanagaraj, Prashanth Neel and Sukumar have completely transformed the tastes of the audience. No wonder the heroes out there don't want to do soft genres.
