AI can create new climaxes for popular movies like Orange, 1: Nenokkadine

The re-release of Raanjhanaa (Hindi) in Tamil Nadu with an AI-generated jolly ending, a move that has deeply upset director Aanand L. Rai, is being highlighted as a possible first for the Indian film industry in this specific way. The use of AI to fundamentally alter the narrative ending of a commercially successful, existing film without the original director's consent is a significant and controversial development.

There is a possibility that, if Raanjhanaa's re-release makes money, many in Tollywood will follow suit. A lot of producers and directors might mull over the potential of altering their movies through AI for publicity-driven re-releases.

Some screenwriters could come up with leads to sequels for their old movies. That would generate online buzz and could fetch moolah if done well. In this regard, not tinkering with interval scenes and/or climaxes of popular movies would be a sane decision.

Movies like Orange and 1: Nenokkadine are good candidates for AI-driven tinkering.
