Aamir Khan rejected Rs 125 crore deal. What did he get in return?

Aamir Khan didn't sell the streaming rights of Sitaare Zameen Par (Hindi) to any OTT platform. He released the sports comedy drama on YouTube on a pay-per-view basis. In his latest interview, the Bollywood superstar suggested that the movie made twenty times what a pay-per-view release would be expected to typically make in India.

“YouTube has this policy that it doesn’t show or provide the number of views for pay-per-view releases. I won't do it either out of respect for them. The pay-per-view business model is at a very nascent stage in our country. At this stage, we have done 20 times the normal business. It's quite huge. But in terms of absolute numbers, it doesn’t compare with letting go of the Rs 125 crore streaming offer,” the actor said.

Aamir Khan deserves praise for rejecting a lucrative offer to stand by his opposition to the short eight-week theatrical-to-OTT release window in Bollywood.
