Reviews for Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani, released on Friday in theatres alongside Mrithyunjay, Saraswathi, and Mension House Mallesh, suggest that the film has largely failed to live up to the expectations set by ETV Win’s recent string of hits. While the reunion of actor Sivaji and his Missamma co-star Laya was expected to kindle nostalgia in a niche audience segment, the consensus among critics is that the movie is a "routine and template" crime comedy.
Almost every reviewer pointed to the "outdated" and "predictable" screenplay. Many felt the story borrows too heavily from Drishyam and Nelson Dilipkumar's style but lacks the necessary tension or wit. At approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, the film is described as "tedious" and "boring." Subplots involving a politician’s lost bag and a forced comedy track with Ali were seen as unnecessary fillers.
Master Rohan plays Sivaji's son. His obsession with Insta reels is basic and barely funny. In one of the short scenes, he recreates the 'Choosko malla..' viral trend without making any improvement.
The characters try too hard to make the audience laugh. In one stretch, Laya lies about being pregnant, but the resulting comedy feels derivative. Almost every element feels like a rehash. Writer-director Sudheer Sriram turns the genre into a road comedy for a brief while. A Hyderabad-flavored dance number headlined by Bandla Ganesh, featuring references to everyone from Trump to Pawan Kalyan, tops off the film.
Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani was originally made for a direct release on ETV Win. Apparently, director Anil Ravipudi advised the team to go for a theatrical release first. Bunny Vas and Vamsi Nandipati (BV Works & VN Entertainments) are its distributors.
