The other day, senior actor-director R. Parthiban made a controversial comment directed at actress Trisha Krishnan during an awards gala in Chennai. The friction began during a rapid-fire segment when Trisha’s image appeared on the screen. Parthiban, who is currently playing a pivotal role in Ustaad Bhagat Singh, leaned into a wordplay. He remarked in Tamil that it would be better to make her at home for a while to avoid "unnecessary problems." This was a veiled reference to Trisha attending a wedding with Thalapathy Vijay, storming a political controversy.
Trisha didn’t stay silent. Taking to social media, she delivered a stinging rebuke, noting that her name and photo had been added to the event at the last minute by an "individual's assistant." She wrote, "A microphone doesn't make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder."
A day later, Parthiban issued a heartfelt apology. He explained that the comment was an unintentional mistake made under the pressure of answering 20 questions in a fast-paced format. It was only later that he realized his words were hurtful. Therefore, he has expressed "wholehearted regret." He added that he has deep respect for women’s freedom, and called them the world's "greatest creative force."
