In The Paradise, Nani’s character Jadal leads the fictional marginalized Savari tribe in a brutal fight against feudal lords (Mohan Babu and Raghav Juyal) for official citizenship, basic rights, and social recognition after decades of erasure and oppression. The word 'gurthimpu' is mentioned every now and then in the movie.
Netizens have since turned the theme into a running joke, treating various Telugu films about underdogs battling systems for identity, dignity, or legitimacy as installments in one sprawling “universe.”
Posts on X and other platforms jokingly list The Paradise, Allu Arjun's Pushpa (where the fight is for self), Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom, and Ram Charan's Peddi (where a whole village lungs for a railway station) under the GCU banner.
