On Monday, Rajeev Kanakala revealed that he is indeed doing Jr NTR's Dragon. He was promoting an upcoming movie of his. During the Q & A session on the occasion, a journalist asked him about the rumour. The character artist was hesitant.
"I am doing the film. I can't say anything specific at this point. What if they don't proceed with my casting if I speak anything out of turn?" Kanakala wondered with a grudging expression on his face. This is his first reunion with Tarak after so many years. He was cast in RRR, but in a brief part and shared no screen space with the actor.
Rajeev Kanakala and Jr NTR became thick friends during the making of Student No. 1, back in the early 2000s. Speaking to a YouTube channel a couple of years ago, Kanakala defended Tarak's silence over Andhra political developments. He said that the War 2 actor would have done three or four projects during the time RRR was in the making. "Even on Devara, he spent more than a year. He is doing films whose scale is massive. Since his focus is entirely on big-scale films, I guess he is not reacting to the political developments (in AP)," Kanakala said.
Jr NTR's Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel, will head to theatres on June 11, 2027.
