Actress Sona Heiden acted opposite Vadivelu in Rajinikanth-starrer Kuselan in 2008. Despite acting in the big-ticket movie (it may have flopped at the box office, but it was high-profile nevertheless), she was not to be seen much in a prominent way. Recently, the actress revealed that despite the visibility gained by her comedy track with Vadivelu, her personal experience working with him was so negative that she decided never to repeat it.
She stated that even if she were offered Rs 1 crore or found herself in a position where she had to "beg for a living," she would still refuse to work with him. “After Kuselan, I received more than 16 film offers to act alongside Vadivelu. But I said, ‘Please leave me out of it.’ Because I can’t handle him. Self respect is important. I don't want to talk more about this," Sona has been quoted as saying by Filmy Bowl.
Her problems go beyond Vadivelu, though. While Sona Heiden didn't detail a specific incident, she alluded to a lack of trust and "deceit" she faced in the industry. She no longer cares about the commercial loss of refusing "big opportunities" because her "self-respect is more important."
