Ramayana trailer: Ranbir Kapoor's 'lack of divine aura' remains a concern

The Ramayana duology, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, is the most expensive Indian film series ever. The combined budget of the two movies, as per producer Namit Malhotra, is Rs 4,000 Cr. Many believe the inflated claim is 100%. The actual budget of the two movies can't be more than Rs 2,000 Cr, skeptics say.

When the movie's teaser was released a few months ago, many criticized Ranbir Kapoor for lacking the aura, to be precise, the divine aura. They feel he has got no divine intensity, no soft voice modulation, and no suitable body language. Some called it "disappointing" or "mediocre" compared to the hype, with a few predicting KGF actor Yash to overshadow him.

The film's Trailer will come out on July 24. If the social media activity of those associated with the Bollywood media is anything to go by, it is going to be supremely good. However, doubts remain. "Before the teaser, too, there was too much buzzworthy posting online. But the trailer didn't look great, unless you are talking about the 3D version, which a fraction of the audience got to watch on the big screen," a movie buff avers.

Ramayana co-stars Sai Pallavi and Sunny Deol. The first part will head to theatres for Diwali 2026.
