Recently, Allu Aravind almost criticized the team behind Chennai Love Story for carrying out the production for an extended period of time. The film should have been completed in 45 working days (the production part) but it took double that time. That's criminally overlong. The costs would have gone up because of the sluggish pace.
Director Ravi Namburi has revealed that CLS' footage was 4.5 hours long. They had to chop off 1.6 hours worth of footage. In this process, a key stretch got trimmed out completely. "As per the original story, Nivi (Sri Gouri Priya) takes notes from Steven Shankar (Kiran Abbavaram). She writes four scripts and works on them. That's how Steven's dream of seeing his name on the big screen comes true. That plot didn't make it to the final cut," Ravi shared.
Chennai Love Story, as per producers SKN and Sai Rajesh, grossed Rs 40 Cr on the first weekend. On BookMyShow and District combined, it has sold 850K tickets in three days. Its box-office collections on Sunday were higher than that on Day 1 and Day 2.
