Steep price of Nolan’s The Odyssey in India raises concerns

The Odyssey is an epic fantasy action film written and directed by Christopher Nolan. In large cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai (and even Delhi and Pune), the ticket price is anywhere from Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 for regular seats in premium IMAX properties.

Yes, in many prominent locations, standard IMAX tickets have skyrocketed from around Rs 510 to a staggering Rs 1,300. In extreme cases, premium seat pricing breached the Rs 3,200 mark.

Frustrated fans took to platforms like X and Reddit to criticize the "aggressive dynamic pricing models", with some pointing out that a single ticket now costs as much as a round-trip train journey to another city.

The Odyssey, to be released in theatres on July 17, follows Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, on his long and perilous journey home following the Trojan War, chronicling his encounters with mythical beings such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, sirens, and the nymph Calypso, while attempting to reunite with his wife, Penelope (as per the synopsis on the movie's Wikipedia page).
