Akkineni Nagarjuna's Nenunnanu was released in theatres in 2004. Since it was a Summer release, the romantic movie (co-starring Shriya Saran, Aarthi Aggarwal and others) realized its fullest potential.

In Uttarandhra, Nenunnanu became a huge blockbuster. Director VN Aditya, in a recent podcast, claimed that the movie's collections exceeded even those of mass entertainers such as Indra, Tagore, and Simhadri in the territory. "After the movie's commercial success, producer MS Raju told me I was thriving in the film industry not because of Manasantha Nuvve but because of Nenunnanu," Aditya shared.

Nenunnanu was produced by D. Sivaprasad Reddy of Kamakshi Movies. Since Uttarandhra was a key market, the producer himself distributed it there and could clear off all his previous debts from the collections. Later on, he went on to make Boss, King, Kedi, Ragada and Greeku Veerudu with Nagarjuna. Naga Chaitanya's Dhada was also produced by the banner. Kamakshi Movies exclusively worked with Nag and Chay after Nenunnanu. However, they couldn't repeat the magic of the film in any manner. Kedi, Dhada and Greeku Veerudu were flops.
